God is so good! Yesterday went exceedingly well. Other than misplacing our rental car keys on the way to the appointment - we stayed pretty sane. :) Talk about bad timing?!?!
We arrived at our clinic for our 2:00 apt. at 1:45 the waiting seemed like an eternity. We were able to chat with some other patients there which was quite entertaining. One of the patients is a 31 year old future surrogate and already has 6 biological children of her own - fascinating story. Another couple was going through an embryo adoption as well so it was comforting to finally meet someone else who has a similar story as we do.
Now on to the important stuff! One of the nurses finally called our name at 3:15 and took us back to the procedure room. Upon our entry she shared the news of our three embryos - yes, ALL 3 survived! There is a grade system that is used with embryos - both for fresh and frozen cycles. The grading system is from one to four, four being the highest grade. Two of our embryos have a grade of three and one has a grade of two. She also shared with us that our embryos have pretty good grades, especially for being frozen and thawed.
The first thing that caught our attention when we walked in the room was this very special incubator-like chamber. Don't worry - we took these pictures after our embryos were implanted :) We were able to look at our embryos through the microscope above. I do have a special picture of our embryos but I won't be able to post it until we get home and I can scan it.
Dr. Toma performed the procedure and did a great job. In all it only took about 15 minutes. The nurse suctioned the embryos into a very small catheter and then with the help of an ultrasound machine, Dr. Toma guided the embryos into me. It was so amazing because we were able to see exactly where the embryos were after they were in me - we couldn't see them but we could see three little air pockets that were in front of where they were. Technology is so amazing and such gift from God and it was so cool to witness the hopeful new beginnings of our family.

hi ruth! i ran across your update somehow on facebook and read your story. andrew & i have had family and friends go through fertility struggles and can understand what a roller coaster it can be. what a witness you are in your faithfulness to see how God is working in your life. thanks for sharing your story Ruth! we will be praying for you!
