As many of you know, our life has been a little crazy this Summer. I'm not able to go into detail but I want you all to know... once again... how thankful we are for all of you in our lives. Tim and I have so much to be thankful for and we praise God for your support and encouragement in these difficult times.
On a very different note, Tim and I have some very exciting news - - we are adopting! As many of you know, adoption has always been on our hearts. With what we have been through with infertility and the embryo adoption, we have always felt that adoption is another wonderful option for us starting a family. Following the loss of our precious embryos, Tim and I began to research several different adoption agencies. There are so many great agencies out there but in the end we felt most comfortable with one agency - Bethany Christian Services. Although we would love to be able to adopt from a few different countries, we felt very limited by some of the requirements and we also desire to adopt an infant for the first go around. And so now we are in the Domestic Infant Adoption Program.
We met with the Bethany Adoptive Family caseworker at end of July and prayed about it for a few weeks. At that time we were torn between Bethany and two other agencies. We discussed and prayed over it for a while and then God gave us a very clear answer in that both of the other agencies doors were closed or had a long wait to be considered as perspective adoptive parents. We saw that as our green light and were thrilled to officially begin the "Paper Pregnancy." Within less than two weeks, we had all but two of our forms filled out and sent in! We also were required to complete a very lengthy "Self-Study." What fun these were!
Last week, we had our "Homstudy" where our case worker, Heather (she's the best!) came to tour our home and interview us as a couple. I think I had been waiting for that day for so long and envisioning what a nightmare our social worker could be. All my fears were relieved when Heather did not check every cabinet, drawer, closet and insist that we have flashlights and fire extinguishers in every room. It actually turned out to be a very nice afternoon and fun was had by all (or at least she seemed to be having fun and like us).
Yesterday we had our final interviews for our homstudy to be completed. We were both interviewed individually for 45+ min. So for our profile to be finally complete and ready to be viewed by perspective birth mothers/families we have to wait for our fingerprints, background checks to come in, and our "profile books" need to be made. It is our goal for everything to be completed and ready for approval by the first week in October. Following that, we will start the waiting period until a birth mother/birth family chooses Tim and I to be their child's adoptive parents.
As always, we appreciate your prayers for our family. We continue to trust that God has the "perfect" child picked out for Tim and I. We cannot wait to see what God has in store for us and truly could not be more excited to meet our child one day.
