So as most of you have already heard.... Tim and I received a call early on Tuesday morning (2/15/11) that Autumn delivered the most precious baby boy.
Tim and I are so thrilled to announce the birth of Micah James born on Tuesday, February 15th at 3:22am. Micah weighed a healthy 8.8 pounds and was 20.5 inches long.
To put it lightly, these past few weeks have been very busy with get togethers with Autumn and Tyler, doctor's appoinments, baby shopping trips, last date nights (for quite some time), Tim going to California for a week, nursery preparations, etc. As crazy as life has been lately, we would not trade these times and memories for the world. It has been such a blessing to get to know Tyler and Autumn and their families. We will truly cherish the times that we've spent together as we prepared for the arrival of Micah.
This past Monday was Autumn's 39 week appointment. Her Doctor checked her progress and found that she was already dialated 4cm! This came as quite a suprise to Autumn, Autumn's Mother and myself. The doctor told us that Autumn could go into labor that night or it could be several days... so just a big guessing game. Autumn decided that she would wait it out and let the baby decide when he wants to come instead of waiting it out at the hospital.
Much to all of our suprise, Autumn's water broke at 1:15am on Tuesday. She and her family rushed to the hospital. By the time Autumn got to the hospital she was 10cm diameters and ready to push! Thankfully, she was able to receive the epidural before she began the delivery. Autumn pushed for about an hour until Micah James made his arrival at 3:22am.
Autumn's Mom called us minutes after Micah's birth to announce the great news. What a wonderful way to be woken up!!! It was the by far one of the best moments of our lives. Words just cannot do justice for the joy we felt when we heard Micah crying in the background.
Yesterday was an incredibly long day, as you can only imagine. Throughout the day, Autumn's Mom called us with updates regarding Micah. We were so thankful for that as we so longed to meet Micah. Around noon we were told that we could go to to the hospital to meet Micah for the first time at 7:00pm! Let's just say that it was a long day but we managed to keep ourselves busy. :)
Again words fail me for what happened last night. I honestly did not think it was possible to love someone so much for just having met them! No offense to Tim but it took a while for him to grow on me but with Micah, it truly was love at first sight. To finally hold and see what our hearts have waited years for was simply the most incredible moment.
When Tim and I walked in Autumn's hospital room, most of Tyler and Autumn's families were there as well. Both Tyler and Autumn have great families and we are so thankful for their support of Tyler, Autumn and Micah. We will always cherish the time we were able to have with everyone there. A few times in the hour that we were there, Autumn referred to me as Micah's Mom - I cannot imagine how hard that was for her but I will always cherish that memory.
In about 13 hours, God willing, we will be traveling to the hospital to sign some papers, receive a quick lesson in infant care from a nurse and finally take Micah home. There are are so many emotions and feeling right now as we consider all that has and will occur in the next day. While we are filled with so much joy and excitement our hearts are heavy as Autumn and Tyler have a very difficult journey ahead of them. We ask that you would pray along with us for strength and peace with their decision. Also, we want to pray that God would use this time to draw us all closer to Him and one another.
Below you will find a few pictures of Micah. He had a photo shoot yesterday morning after his first bath - he is such a photogenic little guy! A very big THANK YOU to the Micah's Birth Grandparents whom purchased the rights to Micah's photo session so that we can all share these precious pictures.
